The CMA recently identified that independent practices are facing increasing competition, rising operating costs, including staff salaries, equipment and supplies, and potential consolidation by larger corporate groups. This guide tackles some of the key challenges faced by independent practices, drawing on the real-world experiences and collective wisdom of the Vetsure community. It offers a fresh, personal perspective on what it means to succeed, and stand out, in an increasingly competitive and evolving market.
Alongside themes such as purchasing, client experience, and training, the guide features tips on recruiting and building a collaborative team from Diane Storer of Cockburn Vets, and Julie Hutton of Hilltop Vets shares her thoughts on leadership and addressing practice challenges. Other contributors to the guide include Vicki Farbon of Scott Veterinary Clinic, Kate Hornby of Wild Side Vets, Emily Nightingale of Nightingale Vets and Simon Hayes of Creature Comforts, who draw from their diverse experiences of founding and operating independent practices.
