Nurses play a key role in the optimal management of skin disease in first opinion practice.

This presentation demonstrates how they do this within the most appropriate method, a nurse led dermatology clinic; looking at how to set one up and the considerations in doing so, how to make best use of the time and ensure the maximum benefit to the patient, owner and vet in charge of the case.It will clarify what nurses are permitted to do in order to encourage those attending to do this themselves.- To gain understanding of the fundamental ways a nurse can proactively aid the diagnosis and management of skin disease.- To understand where dermatology clinics fit in general practice- To gain an idea of how to go about setting up a specialist clinic- To find out/consider what can help them last and what will cause them to fail
