Jessie qualified as an RVN in 2016 and has always had a keen interest in animal rescue and welfare. She has a niche speciality in neonatal nursing and hand rears for a range of animal charities in the UK. In 2022, Jessie founded “Auntie Jessie’s Animal Care”, which enables her to act as a community vet nurse, whilst working with pet owners, veterinary practices and educational organisations to improve the standard of care for neonatal patients.

Lecture Synopsis:
Let’s discuss the most up to date protocol for neonatal cardio-pulmonary resuscitation; referring to the new RECOVER guidelines! The aim of this webinar is to provide attendees with a clearer understanding of neonatal physiology, as well as the ability to strategise, starting with Caeserean section preparations, extending this level of attention through to ensuring neonates are stable upon discharge. The knowledge gained from attending this webinar will also provide learners with a deeper insight into appropriate triage steps for our neonatal patients.

Learning Points:

  • How to prepare for neonatal resuscitation
  • How to manage respiratory stimulation
  • Advanced CPR interventions
  • How to stabilise following successful resuscitation
East Anglia BVNA Advocate:

Kay Eminson BSc(hons) RVN, CERT VNES

Having qualified in 2009 Kay has been fortunate to work in a variety of set ups and nursed everything from cow caesarians to total hip replacements, practice management and budgeting to surgical scrub nurse in cataracts. She developed an interest in quality improvement and in 2020 was highly commended in the RCVS QI awards for her project on dental analgesia. When she is not at work and weather permits she challenges herself by learning how to sail. She enjoys being out on the water whether that be on her paddleboard or for a cold water dip. At home she has a black labrador Milo and Berlioz the cat, her current chicken count is 6 rescues who she is enjoying learning more about.
