Feline Idiopathic Cystitis Part 2: The Nurse’s Role In Management And Prevention

17th June 2024 - 17th June 2032

£10

Target Audience: Tailored for veterinary nurses and animal care assistants.

In the webinar we will be looking at the Veterinary Nurse’s role in managing cats with idiopathic cystitis, and how nurses can use their skills and knowledge to support owners caring for cats with this stress-related health problem.

Veterinary Nurses have an important part to play when it comes to helping owners prevent their cats from suffering from further episodes of FIC – there is so much more to it than just sending the cat home with a bag or sachet of urinary food! The main focus of this webinar is centred on preventing future episodes of this painful problem by considering the species-specific needs of cats (and not humans!) and then studying and modifying the cat’s environment to reduce stress and improve welfare.

What you will learn:

  • The importance of recognising the species-specific needs of cats in a home environment – think cat!
  • What MEMO means and its uses for prevention and management of FIC
  • The role fluid intake, diet, nutraceuticals, and pheromone therapy play in the management of cats with FIC
  • Effective communication with cat owners – help them help their cat!
  • Why referral to a suitably qualified behaviourist may be necessary

CPD/CE hours: 45 minutes
