Speaker: Cassandra Houghton BSc(Hons) NCert Dent & Surg RVN
Cas graduated from Askham Bryan College in 2012, later pursuing certificates in dentistry and surgical nursing. She has been at Abbey House Veterinary Hospital in Leeds for 3 years, and has been instrumental in coordinating dental staging and nurse led dental procedures. Cas is a Subject Matter Expert with the Linnaeus Clinical Board, and is a British Veterinary Dental Association (BVDA) Committee member. Her next career endeavour is to be successful in her application for the Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) mentorship programme with the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians.
Lecture Synopsis:
From admit to discharge, Cas will discuss a typical day of nurse led dentistry. There will be an overview of cases which demonstrate nurse utilisation and autonomy, and the power of a synergistic relationship between vets and nurses.
Learning Points:
Attendees will gain insight into the different dentistry related procedures RVNs can perform under veterinary direction, practising within the scope of their knowledge, skills and experience.

Emma Hall GradDipVN, NCert(AnBeh),VNCertECC, CertDent, CertVNES, CA-SQP, A1, IOSH, Recover Rescuer Certified, RVN Emma started her veterinary nursing career in 1996 at a busy mixed practice. She progressed through her SVN training, qualified then took on the head nurse role, then surgery manager to her current role of Group Nursing Manager for a group of 5 practices. Throughout her career Emma always has a thirst for knowledge and has collected many post grad certificates and loves to pass her new found knowledge onto her team. Emma has been a Clinical Coach since 2006 and loves to see the students’ confidence and skills grow. |
