Krka UK’s Animal Health Team has launched a new podcast series focused on canine osteoarthritis. The series features roundtable discussions led by veterinary orthopaedics expert, Stuart Carmichael, and delves into key aspects of managing osteoarthritis in dogs. Topics include the pathogenesis of OA, the importance of personalised treatment plans, and practical tips for supporting both pets and caregivers. The podcasts can be accessed here.
The first podcast centres around understanding the pathogenesis of the condition and the importance of thorough clinical examinations, diagnostic imaging and early intervention, all of which can greatly influence long-term outcomes. Stuart explains, “We often see pain as a problem, but it’s also a signal that gives us the opportunity to act early and prevent further progression. By the time pain is obvious, the disease is often so advanced that our ability to make a meaningful impact is limited. Acting early can change this pattern, and that’s a critical message we need to communicate to pet owners.”
Each episode offers actionable insights that can be easily implemented in practice and Stuart is joined in the series by Krka’s technical veterinary adviser, Renzo Di Florio. In subsequent episodes the pair share their thoughts on the latest advances in osteoarthritis treatment, creating an effective management plan that is individualised for each patient, as well as tips for communicating and engaging with caregivers.
