The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic is accredited a “Cat Friendly Clinic”

Specialist orthopaedic-only referral clinic, The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic, has been awarded Silver Cat Friendly Status by the International Society of Feline Medicine. The award recognises the measures taken by the clinic to actively reduce stress and anxiety in cats during veterinary visits.

As an accredited Cat Friendly Clinic, the Moores Orthopaedic Clinic has shown a high standard of cat care, including the provision of cat only waiting areas, staff who have a deep understanding of the needs of cats, and the development of approaches to best handle cats gently and with care.

Andy Moores, surgeon and founder of The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic, comments, “Cats are highly sensitive to new places and often don’t travel well, so we have put in place provisions to make their time with us as stress-free as possible. It’s been a whole team approach, but I’d like to thank our nurses, especially Scarlett Beesley,  who have been instrumental in working towards the accreditation, ensuring we are meeting the needs of our feline patients at all times.”

Andy continues, “By achieving Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation we are showing our commitment to delivering our exceptional levels of care, with compassion and expertise, and hope to ease any anxiety our cat owners may have regarding bringing their cat in for veterinary care.”

The International Society of Feline Medicine launched the cat-friendly initiative to encourage veterinary clinics to make changes to improve welfare of cats in their care. The programme advises practices on how to make their environment as welcoming as possible for cats, as well as providing support in staff training, handling techniques and cat-specific client care.
