Do you dread picking up the phone and having to answer questions regarding reproduction?
Whether you agree with dog breeding or not, the likelihood is that you will come across it when working in veterinary practice and will come into contact with different types of breeders.
The pandemic has certainly increased the number of dogs being bred -some are motivated by the high price’s puppies are now selling for and others don’t want to pay an inflated price for a puppy so decide to have a litter themselves.
Whatever the reason for breeding, veterinary professionals are in a prime position to promote responsible breeding.
Our online tutor for this course Kathryne has an extensive background and wealth of knowledge around canine reproduction that will help put your mind at ease!
This course has been written to give an overview of breeding, what’s normal and importantly what’s not.
It covers the breeding process from the bitch coming into season all the way through to weaning the puppies.
The whelping process covers a number of scenarios so hopefully the next time someone says there’s a whelping bitch on her way down to the practice, instead of having a feeling of dread you will be able to ascertain what is going on and deal with the situation effectively.
Unfortunatley, dogs can’t read textbooks (wouldn’t that be helpful!). This can make things difficult but this course will give you a greater confidence when working with breeding dogs.
All our courses include small bitesize videos with an accompanying workbook so you don’t have to write a single word (unless you want an excuse to get your stationary out 😉)
