The British Veterinary Association (BVA) is pleased to see Cambridge University Vet School moving in the right direction as the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ (RCVS) extends conditional accreditation of its veterinary degree for a year following significant improvements.
RCVS had initially awarded ‘conditional accreditation’ for its degree having identified ‘wide-ranging concerns’ and given the vet school ten months to turn things around. BVA’s Senior Vice President Liz Mullineaux, along with Association of Veterinary Students President Jayson Hughes and Cambridge University Rep Jack Pyman, met with senior leadership at Cambridge University in June, when they secured reassurances from the university that it remained committed to the long-term future of the vet school.
British Veterinary Association President Dr. Rob Williams MRCVS said: “Cambridge Vet School is an important institution to the future of both the UK and global veterinary professions and therefore it’s great to see positive progress being made to secure its future. BVA will continue to engage with the vet school’s senior leadership team to ensure the voices of Cambridge students, alumni and staff are heard as it takes its final steps towards full accreditation.”
