What is a Learning Pathway?
BVNA is committed to ensuring its future CPD provides delegates with the implementable skills and knowledge to have a direct impact on their veterinary nursing practice, along with the confidence to consider future specialised CPD opportunities and/or advanced level veterinary nursing qualifications too. The Learning Pathway in Anaesthesia combines the provision of a bite-sized course designed by leading subject experts at AVA, with access to discounted AVA Membership (or BVNA Membership, if you are already an AVA Member) and therefore future specialised CPD opportunities to those who successfully complete the course.
Key course details:
- 15 hours of interactive and engaging CPD, which you will have 3 months to complete
- 4 modules:
- Patient Safety and Human Factors
- Pre-Anaesthetic Preparation of Patient and Equipment
- Anaesthetic Induction and Maintenance
- Patient Recovery
- If enrolling from the UK, you must be an RVN to enrol (or equivalent, if enrolling from the EU. In this case, you will be asked for proof of your qualification/registration).
- No prior reading is required – the course is designed to cover the fundamentals before introducing more technical knowledge.
The course is made up of a series of webinars, reflective activities, MCQs, interactive tasks and a final assessment – all learning and assessment is completed online via BVNA’s Moodle platform. While the course is designed to provide delegates with confidence-building knowledge to directly implement in their nursing practice, you do not need to currently be in practice to undertake the course. Alternative activities are provided to those without current access to anaesthesia cases.
Please note – all webinars have captions/subtitles available.
Here’s what some of our recent delegates say about the course:
“I found this course challenging in a good way… it has given me an insight to where my weaknesses are and what I need to improve on. While I still have access to the course I am going to continue going through the information provided and see if I can expand my thinking and improve my practice.”
“This course was amazing for my development as a veterinary nurse! I qualified around 6 months ago and I feel that this course was a great refresher and also built upon my knowledge from university and also my practical knowledge from working in practice! I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking to improve their knowledge and confidence in anaesthesia.”
