Feline Idiopathic Cystitis Part 1: What Is It And Why Does It Occur?

17th June 2024 - 17th June 2032

£10

Target audience: Veterinary nurses and animal care assistants

In this webinar, we will explore why some cats are more predisposed to developing FIC than others and the common risk factors associated with FIC, such as obesity, indoor lifestyle, and living as part of a multi-cat household.

We will work through not just the clinical signs, but also the behavioural signs associated with cats suffering from cystitis, which will enable nurses to perform effective triage of suspected cases before or upon arrival to the veterinary clinic.

We will investigate the term ‘Pandora’s Syndrome’ and look at how certain stress triggers can cause cats to develop the symptoms linked with FIC. We will also cover what factors might contribute towards a vet to make a diagnosis of FIC, and the commonly prescribed medications used to treat or manage it.

What you will learn:

  • The clinical signs associated with cats that suffer from FIC
  • The risks and contributory factors linked with cats that develop FIC i.e. which cats it is most likely to affect and why
  • The behavioural signs associated with FIC
  • How FIC is diagnosed and common associated treatments
